Q & A Section: Snowboard AirTag Discs

1. Are the AirTag discs compatible with all bindings?
Each binding type has a unique disc type, and some boards may require special discs. We offer various disc options, but if you don't see the disc you need listed, please inquire directly through our contact form. We’re happy to help find a solution for your specific setup.

2. How are the AirTag discs marked for angles?
Our discs are marked at 0°, 9°, and 18° increments, allowing precise customization of your binding angles. Each “tooth” on the disc represents 3°, which is standard across most discs. For example, if you’re looking for a 15° angle, you’d align your binding by moving one tooth inward from the 18° marker. The center marker at 0° is denoted by a triangle, while the 9° and 18° markers are simple dashes, making alignment straightforward. Both positive and negative directions are marked for easy setup and adjustment.

3. Why are the AirTag discs designed for the rear foot binding?
The discs are specifically designed for use under the rear foot binding for added safety. If your board drops from a chairlift, the AirTag will help you track it. Additionally, if the disc were to break, having the front foot engaged provides better board control. For safety reasons, we do not recommend running an AirTag disc under the front foot binding without further developmental testing. Running two trackers is also not advised.

4. Can I install the AirTag disc without factory washers?
No. It is critical to use the factory washers and screws when installing the AirTag disc. The disc is designed to work with the factory washer to reinforce the structure and maintain its integrity. Running the disc without washers or with non-factory screws can compromise its strength and safety. Always ensure the original hardware is used during installation.

For reference:

  • 4x4 and 4x2 mounting patterns typically use 16mm M6 screws.
  • Channel systems (like Burton’s Channel) typically use 13mm M6 countersunk screws.

Always verify the hardware length matches your setup to ensure secure and safe installation.

5. How do I install the AirTag disc?
We provide detailed installation instructions with each order. You’ll remove your rear foot binding, align the AirTag disc with the binding holes, and reattach the binding with the disc in place. Refer to the instructions on your packing slip for best results.

6. How secure is the AirTag inside the disc?
The disc is designed with a tight fit to keep your AirTag secure. For additional waterproofing, install the AirTag with the silver side facing inward. You can also use the optional gasket included for enhanced weather protection.

7. Can I remove the AirTag if needed?
Yes. If you need to replace the AirTag battery, you can use a razor blade or tweezers to carefully pry it out from one corner. For the easiest removal, install the AirTag with the silver side facing outward.

8. What material are the discs made from?
Our discs are made from high-impact eSUN PLA+ and are 3D printed to order, allowing for quick adaptability to any updates or changes in disc or tag design. This ensures durability and compatibility with your bindings.

9. What if I can’t find the disc I’m looking for?
If you don’t see the disc type you need listed on the site, don’t hesitate to reach out via our contact form. Some boards may require special discs, and we can work with you to find the right solution.

10. Are there options for Android users?
Yes! We also offer Android Tile Tags and Chipolo Trackers for certain disc types. If you’re an Android user looking for options, be sure to inquire through our contact form.

11. How long do the batteries last?
Our experience shows that the batteries are built to withstand tough conditions. Last season, we rode about 40 days with boards kept in the back of a truck in frozen temperatures in Mammoth with no issues. The batteries lasted all season, and all five boards are still working solid this year. Even our dog’s been in Mammoth for three seasons on the same batteries! You should only need to change them once a year.

If you frequently ride in extreme cold temperatures, we recommend upgrading to high-performance batteries, such as certain Panasonic models, which are designed to operate in temperatures as low as -40°C.

12. What is the warranty on the discs?
We’re proud to offer a lifetime warranty on our discs. If you experience any issues or have compatibility concerns, let us know through our contact form, and we’ll make sure you get the right disc for your needs.
